"CombuSite"

Combustion technology
for a better environment

NEW! From 1 May 2004, nationals from the 10 EU Applicant States are also eligible!

Connected to the NTNU strategic area "Energy and Environment".

European doctoral students are invited to join the integrated research groups at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and SINTEF (SINTEF Energy Research )
in Trondheim, Norway, and take part in research activities covering both fundamental and applied aspects on improving technology for combustion of natural gas in order to make it more environmentally friendly.

The form of activities range from experimental work, mathematical modelling and numerical simulation. The experimental work will be conducted at the Thermal energy laboratory,
which is a laboratory dedicated to combustion and it has a professional staff of 12 engineers
and technicians. It has large scale combustion facilities with improved laser based technology. The numerical simulations will use Norway's national supercomputing facility which is located in Trondheim. Particular challenging current fields of research are clean combustion technologies for natural gas-hydrogen mixtures, biomass, combustion, gasification and pyrolysis, combustion-flow interactions, and better prediction of formation and reduction of pollutants.

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is the national centre for technological education and research within the natural sciences. NTNU and SINTEF, the largest independent research institute in Scandinavia, collaborate closely on a wide range of research fields. SINTEF Energy Research is the part of the SINTEF group focusing on applied research for electric power generating utilities, process industry and the petroleum industry.
Most of the research is conducted in partnership with the industry.

Marie Curie Fellows will join integrated NTNU-SINTEF research teams and have available
all services from both institutions, including social services, university courses, computer networks, application software and high quality laboratory facilities and technical assistance.

NB! Applicants are welcome to submit proposals at any time. They will be evaluated on a continuously basis. Please take direct contact for further information.
See "How to apply".
