21 Smoking in indoor public places
Norway
has had a ban on smoking in indoor public places and on all means of public
transportation since 1988. If certain conditions are fulfilled, physically
separated smoking areas may be provided.
Since
1 June 2004 all smoking has been banned in all establishments that serve food
or drinks for consumption, such as restaurants, cafés, discos, bars and pubs.
The above mentioned possibility of providing physically separated smoking areas
does not apply to restaurants, bars, etc.
The
legislation on smoke-free areas is enforced by the municipalities. Inspections
of the working environment are conducted by the Labour Inspection Authority.
