Below are a list of selected events that are interesting to view. The video files that can be downloaded are minimized, and their quality can not compare with the original.

All sequences shows a view of the sky, looking field-aligned (nearly vertical), with a field of view of about 10x15 to 25x30 degrees. North is up in all sequences, if nothing else is mentioned.

The black aurora movie clips, used in a study of the relative drift between black aurora and the ionospheric plasma, can also be of interest.

Rayed aurora on Svalbard 2002-01-17, 06:46 UT: Svalbard.
Description:
Beatiful dynamic rayed aurora. This sequence was taken pre-Odin, using the PAI imager from University of Calgary, Canada, courtesy Trond S. Trondsen. During this event, the EISCAT Svalbard Radar (ESR) observed enhanced ion-acoustic echoes.
Video clip: QuickTime (1.1MB) and avi (1.7MB)

Black aurora from
    Tromsø 2002-03-05, 20:13 UT: Tromsø.
Description:
Black aurora captured on the first evening Odin was running. The white circle in the middle of the image shows the position of the radar beam.
Video clip: QuickTime (6.9MB) and avi (2.9MB)

Dynamic rayed aurora from
    Svalbard 2003-01-26, 06:53 UT: Svalbard.
Description:
Dynamic rayed aurora. The Odin imager was mounted at the EISCAT Svalbard radar site, and there was a thin cloud cover that obscures the view slightly. This event also coincides with ESR observations of enhanced radar echoes.
Video clip: QuickTime (424KB) and avi (1.1MB)

Dynamic rayed aurora from
    Svalbard 2003-01-26, 06:53 UT: Svalbard.
Description:
Same dynamic rayed aurora as above, but this time seen from another camera (a part of the SIF facility), mounted at the Auroral station, 7 km away from the radar. In this clip, south is up.
Video clip: QuickTime (1.4MB) and avi (1.0MB)

Dynamic rayed aurora from
    Svalbard 2003-01-29, 17:19 UT: Svalbard.
Description:
Also dynamic auroral rays, it is not yet clear if this event is simultaneous with enhanced ion-acoustic radar echoes.
Video clip: QuickTime (552KB) and avi (1.2MB)

Svalbard 2003-01-29, 17:20 UT: Svalbard.
Description:
Active, not rayed, aurora, with thin fast moving structures.
Video clip: QuickTime (1.4MB) and avi (3.7MB)

Svalbard 2003-01-30, 07:10 UT: Svalbard.
Description:
Rayed aurora (corona), but not as dynamic as cases where ESR have detected enhanced ion-acoustic echoes.
Video clip: QuickTime (4.5MB) and avi (9.1MB)

Nice curl from Svalbard 2003-01-31, 05:34 UT: Svalbard.
Description:
Nice fight between a curl (the small scale anti-clockwise rotating form) and a spiral (a large scale clockwise rotational form), yielding this folding shape.
Video clip: QuickTime (1.0MB) and avi (1.8MB)

Black aurora from
    Tromsø 2003-03-02, 22:02 UT: Tromsø.
Description:
Westward drifting black auroral patches.
Video clip: QuickTime (1.0MB) and avi (2.6MB)

Shedding aurora from
    Tromsø 2003-03-02, 22:27 UT: Tromsø.
Description:
An interesting case of shedding aurora. The auroral arc is splitting into several thinner forms, which moves away from the original arc.
Video clip: QuickTime (2.3MB) and avi (1.0MB)

Smokey aurora from
    Tromsø 2003-11-18, 17:54 UT: Tromsø.
Description:
Beautiful smokelike aurora, typical for an auroral breakup.
Video clip: QuickTime (1.0MB) and avi (2.6MB)
