Proteomic Unit, UiB

PROBE is a core facility for proteomics supported by Norges forskningsråd (the FUGE programme) and the University of Bergen. The Unit was set up in April 2003 in the new building for Basic Biological Science, www.uib.no/bbb, to aid Norwegian researchers in the identification and characterization of expressed proteins in any given biological sample.

Protein samples may be submitted to PROBE for non-profit analysis by state-of-the-art mass spectrometry. The Unit is a national resource laboratory for mass spectrometry analysis of proteins, with emphasis on interactomics and post-translational modifications. Collaboration projects on these two priority research areas will be considered.

An important aspect of the unit is to train students and scientists in proteomics. PROBE is an open facility in which external students and scientists are welcome for training.
