Welcome to Q2S

Q2S - the Centre for Quantifiable Quality of Service in Communication Systems is a Norwegian Centre of Excellence at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim.

The Centre will study principles, derive mechanisms, methods and technical solutions and assess their properties and performances by means of experiments and models.
Performances relate to perceived quality of streamed speech/music and video, delays and throughput of elastic traffic, reliability and availability of services, and information security with encryption and user authentication.

*Best Paper Award* Visiting Professor Ajith Abraham and Postdoc Crina Grosan, both Q2S, have been offered a Best paper Award at the Second IEEE International Conference on Digital Information Management (ICDIM 2007)for the paper entitled: "Exploration of Multiple Roots for a Polynomial System". Q2S congratulates!

Visiting Professor Ajith Abraham and Postdoc Crina Grosan, both Q2S, have been offered a Best paper Award at the Second IEEE International Conference on Digital Information Management (ICDIM 2007)for the paper entitled: "Exploration of Multiple Roots for a Polynomial System" Abstract: Several problems from engineering, chemistry, medicine, etc. can be formulated as a system of equations. Finding a solution for such a system sometimes requires high computational efforts. There are situations when these systems have multiple solutions. For such problems, the task is to find as many solutions as possible. In this paper, we deal with such systems of equations, which have multiple solutions and we attempt to solve them using two different approaches. Both approaches transform the problem into an optimization problem. The two approaches proposed in are (1) a modified line search and (2) an evolutionary algorithm. Several experiments are performed in order to emphasize the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods. The Conference received 219 papers and 83 papers were accepted for presentation. The selection of the best paper was done by a nine member panel based on technical contents; presentation, reviewers feed back and overall assessment.
