Research program on globalisation:
"Transnational flows of concepts and substances"
"Transnational flows of concepts and substances"
is a 4-year research program that runs from 2001 through 2004, and at
the Department of Social Anthropoloy, University of Oslo. The research
program is funded by the Norwegian Research Council, and is part of a
large funding program for studies
on globalisation and internationalisation within the humanistic and
social sciences.
The research program involves seven core members of staff and 14 graduate
students. Each participant in the program contributes with individual
research projects that are grounded in the ethnography of transnational
interconnectedness. The aim of this cooperative effort has been to connect
theoretical contributions from anthropology to the broader debates on
globalisation through comparisons. Overlapping concerns focus upon the
flow of capital, objects, persons, and ideas. For details, see program
abstract.
Joint publications comprise three edited volumes, one of which was published
in 2003 (Globalisation, Studies in Anthrology), one that is due in January
2005, and a third which is currently under preparation. Individual publications
include numerous books, articles and book chapters. For details,
see publications.
