Search guide

Search is a two step engine. If the word you search for is part of a statistic's name or subject area, a list of hits will be shown. If not, an advanced search will be executed.

Advanced search

Search now expands to all variants of the word.
Use "" for exact or phrase search. Then you limit the number of hits
Examples:

immigrant population - default, matches all variants i.e. immigrants
"immigrant" "population" - matches the exact strings or words in the document.
"immigrant population" - matches the exact phrase

You may also limit by only searching the Title:
Whole document Title URL

Numbers are not indexed and not searchable.

Operators

AND(default), OR and NOT might be used between the words in the query. If you don't formulate anything it works like an AND automatically is inserted. Use OR between words to expand the search.

You can choose the order of the results by rank, or by date:
Sort by: Rank Date

Search-domain

Select part to search:

Entire web-server - covers all pages in the English part of the web-server, except Archive and pdf-files. Some documents are only in Norwegian. If you want to search for them try: Søk.
Archive - previous released articles and tables, which have been replaced by newer figures.
Pdf-files - search documents in pdf-format. These are often large publications and it is easy to get many hits.

Quick-search, the search tool at the top of each page, works a bit different.
