The research group is constitutet of academic positions within the Center and a broad national and international network (see examples of projects below and links). The denominator guiding the work is the relationship between human beeings and risk, safety and environmental issues. Research topics involve human reactions to risks and crises, safety and risk management, beliefs, values and group processes, decision making and governance. A wide range on environmental and societal settings and circumstances frame the research topics in specific projects. Those can be mainly theoretical or mainly applied, of shorter or longer duration, but aim at developing more specific insights into humans’ views and reactions to external circumstances and demands.
Current projects are both international (see link to ARGONA, CARGO and SKB “Youth’s views on democracy and technology”, national (see link to CALANUS, NTNU; SAMRISK, UiS; RiskDefinitions, UiS) and based on students’ doctoral or master thesis work (see link to supervision/veiledning). The research staff have, in addition to current courses and ongoing research projects, a number of external commissions and contacts (see Links).
Seminars organised by the Center are public and can be attended after notification to the organiser (see link to Seminars).
