PhD
programme
TIK's interdisciplinary
profile is reflected in the research scholar portfolio, consisting of both students
and research scholars associated with the PhD-, dr.art and the dr.polit programmes.
TIK is responsible for the jointed doctoral degree training and supervising
at the centre, and offers a separate doctoral degree programme and several doctorate
research courses. The list of courses gives
a impression both to the emphasise of the of the research courses - the borderlines
between technology, science, innovation, economy and culture - , and the broadness
of this field.
Reserchers/fellows can be admitted to TIK's doctoral degree programme. The programme is interdisciplinary oriented and results in a PhD.-degree. To see procedure for admission please see the The Faculty of Social Sciences. Application form is available on request from phd-request@tik.uio.no. It is also possible to have a work-place at the centre and follow TIK's programme, but still be admitted to the doctoral degree training at the The Faculty of Arts.
Parts of the PhD
programme presentation offered by TIK are available in English. For application
procedures please see the Faculty
of Social Sciences pages. Please contact PhD responsible at TIK (E-mail) if you need any further
information in English.

ESST - Society,
Science and Technology in Europe. Master of Arts.
The programme aims to develop informational resources, analytical skills
and conceptual frameworks for researchers and students in technological change
and innovation. It is designed to provide post-graduate training for academics
of all backgrounds: social scientists, engineers and human scholars. It is based
on active participation by people from industry and engineering, policy-makers
and academia from all over Europe. The approach is inter-disciplinary, based
on recent results from research at the frontiers of modern studies of science/technology
and economy/society. The programme aims to apply such research to the social
and economic analysis of innovation, to strategic decision-making and management
of sciences and (new) technologies, to ethical issues in sciences and technology,
and to political and cultural analysis of modern science- and technology-based
societies.
The programme requires that applicants meet Norwegian and English proficiency reqirements, as courses are taught in both languages at UiO. Other member universities of The European Inter-University Association on Society, Science and Technology (ESST) offer all courses in English, and international applicants without Norwegian profiency are encouraged to apply these universities. All programme students are welcome to apply for specialization at UiO during the second semester of the programme.
