Bergen Open Research Archive (BORA) - Agreement concerning the publication of a Master’s thesis

The Master’s thesis will be published on the following terms and conditions:

1. The University of Bergen (represented by the University Library) is both entitled and obliged to publish the Master’s thesis in Bergen Open Research Archive (BORA). The university publishes the Master’s thesis on the internet with text, images, tables and graphic elements as received from the author and with the adjustments necessary for electronic publication.

2. The author guarantees that he or she has copyright to the work, or permission from copyright holders to make the work available in BORA. The university will remove the thesis if this condition is not satisfied.

3. The university is entitled to adapt the Master’s thesis for use with new versions of software and/or hardware, and to convert it (without altering its contents) to other formats and media so that the document can be preserved.

4. This agreement is not an obstacle to the author publishing the thesis in paper form or electronically elsewhere.

5. In other respects, Act no. 2 of 12 May 1961 relating to copyright in literary, scientific and artistic works etc. (the Copyright Act), with subsequent amendments, applies.

About BORA and Master’s theses
If you are planning to publish your thesis in the form of an article or through a publisher, you should be aware that making the thesis available in BORA may affect your chances of having it published elsewhere. In such case, it is up to you to consider what you wish to prioritize, and, if applicable, to agree with the publisher how this issue should be dealt with.
