ANALYSIS
Introduction
Nowadays, Mathematics changes
its face
and there are no directions restricted to a particular area any
longer. Thus our research is a sinthesys of several subjects
including mechanical and engineering applications. The Analysis Group
works on a wide range of problems originated from various fields such
as Analysis itself, Geometry, Mathematical Physics, Hamiltonian
Mechanics, Cosmology. Physical
and Engineering prediction and
intuition sometimes are braked by technical constrains, e.g., the
progress in elementary particle studies depends on the power of
modern accelerators. Here Mathematics provides new ideas and develop
new concepts which are to be confirmed then experimentally.
Particular topics include:
- Analysis and Hamiltonian Systems
- Banach Spaces of Analytic Functions
- Evolution Processes and Free Boundary Problems
- Hamiltonian Mechanics and non-Riemannian structures
- Conformal Field Theory
We have strong international
integration. Analysis Group is a central node of the

- Anna Korolko (from
Novosibirsk) joins the Analysis Group as
a new
Ph.D. student from November 2007. She will share office 521, phone
84895. - August 15, Pavel Gumenyuk
got a one year post-doc position at our Institute. This appointment is
due to Russian-Norwegian Cooperation Program. His office is 521, phone
84895.
- June 27-30, Professor Ludvig Faddeev is visiting our
Institute.
He will speak on discretization of quantum
current algebras and
Virasoro algebra and relations with integrable models. His lecture on
June 29, Friday, 15:00 sharp will be at the Auditorium Pi, Johannes
Brunsgate 12.
- May 4, 2007, one-day workshop "Geometric
Analysis". The speakers are I.Markina (UiB), A.Stray (UiB),
A.Vasiliev (UiB), D.-Ch.Chang (Georgetown University, USA). I.Krichever
(Columbia University, USA).

May 7-12, 2007 we host an international conference "New Trends in Complex and Harmonic Analysis". Please consult the LINK.
- Our group won the grant for the European Network "Harmonic and Complex Analysis and its Applications" (European Science Foundation) 2007-2011.
