- I am currently working on my PhD dissertation, preliminarily titled “Public Service, Democracy and Digitalization
- A Comparative Study of Four Public Broadcasters Facing a Digitalized Media System”. The project is a media
policy analysis of public broadcasting. In the project the predominantly licence fee funded broadcasting institutions in
Norway (NRK), the UK (BBC) and Germany (ARD and ZDF) are analysed. What are the possible roles for these institutions?
Does the massive growth in media channels undermine the legitimacy of public service braodcasting, or is the concept more
relevant than ever? Description of the project as per autumn 2006.
- For the spring semester of 2007 I am teaching a course on “Democratic Culture” for master students at my department.
Course info (in Norwegian).
- Together with the research group for media-, ict- and cultural policy at my department, I am organizing the seminar “Digitalization
and Democracy: Public Service Broadcasting and the Internet” on 26.-27. of April 2007. Seminar program and info. Report,
presentations, and podcasts of talks in Vox Publica, article in På Høyden (in Norwegian), article in Bergens Tidende (in Norwegian),
feature on NRK Kulturnytt (in Norwegian).
