Eyr - Norwegian mailing list for general practice

This page in Norwegian

Archive

In old nordic mythology Eyr was the goddess for medicine. The first Norwegian medical journal (1826-37) was also named Eyr. We think it suitable that the first mailing list is given the same name. The list is open to everyone who understands Norwegian and wishes to discuss topics related to general practice. But beware, this is not a column where patients can get free medical advice.

You may subscribe to the list (or unsubscribe) by sending a mail to majordomo@uib.no

Leave the subject field open. Do not use your signature. Majordomo will respond, asking you to confirm your subscription by returning a code. You need to be a member of Eyr in order to post messages to the list.

The list address is eyr@uib.no
When this address is used, your message will be distributed to all members of Eyr. Such messages are composed in the normal way, with subject and signature.

It is important that you understand the difference between these two addresses (Majordomo and Eyr). Majordomo is used for subscribing or unsubscribing. For other messages, to be distributed to other members, you must use Eyr. Sometimes, private messages are erroneously sent to Eyr. This is usually caused by someone using the reply function too hastily. Please do not comment such errors to Eyr. Do nothing, or respond privately.

Case histories are useful for clinical discussions, but please remember that Eyr is an open forum. To preserve anonymity the histories have to be rewritten in a way that prevents identification. This may be difficult for physicians working in small communities. A possible solution is to send the case history to a colleague working in a larger town. This colleague may thereafter forward the story to Eyr, with the following introduction: From a colleague working in a small municipality, I present this case history to Eyr:

Please do not hesitate to share your views with Eyr. However, commercial advertising will not be tolerated. We would appreciate if newcomers introduce themselves to the list.

If you find the traffic on Eyr unbearable, you may, as an alternative, join the digest version, Eyr-Digest. You can subscribe to Eyr-Digest by sending a mail to majordomo@uib.no
