PROTEVS AS is jointly owned by the University of Bergen, the Institute of Marine Research and the Institute of Nutrition. The PROTEVS AS company offers applied research and consulting services to industrial and commercial interests within the marine sector.

The combined expertise of the owner institutions enables PROTEVS AS to be able to offer these services within the particular areas of resource management / aquaculture / environment / food safety / biotechnology / fish health / fisheries economy / legislation / etc.

Aim

PROTEVS AS is a service provider for customers in Norway and abroad. The company will play a central role in the international market, especially within areas where the company and its co-operating partners possess key expertise.

PROTEVS AS will also facilitate the dissemination of new scientific knowledge from the research laboratory to industry. By facilitating co-operation with the private sector, PROTEVS AS will contribute to efficient and sustainable utilisation of marine resources in Norwegian and international waters.

Owners

The three owners of PROTEVS AS, the University of Bergen, the National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research and the Institute of Nutrition, represent leaders in Bergen's strong scientific community within the marine sector. This community has a strong infrastructure and covers a broad range of scientific areas.

PROTEVS AS was established as the owner institutions response to the ever-increasing demands from industry for greater support from public research institutions.

The company, PROTEVS AS, as a separate entity from the owner institutions, will be able to meet these demands without interfering with the owner institutions' responsibilities with respect to education and public administration.
