POLICY
The POLICY subgroup (coordinated by Elisabeth Fosse) is focusing on studies of infrastructures and resources in health promotion with a special emphasis on studies which may throw light on inequalities in health.
The POLICY team is presently operating or building internet-based databases on health promotion policies, infrastructures, and practices at the country level in the arenas of mental health, alcohol control, tobacco control, child welfare, child mental health, African national infrastructure and European national infrastructure (www.hp-source.net).
The main research project linking all members of the group is led by Marit Skivenes, and examines/contrasts and compares policy and practice for child welfare in Norway, other parts of Europe and the USA. Theoretical perspectives are borrowed from several disciplines, for instance political- and organizational science. External funding has been obtained from the European Union, Council of Europe, the Quota Programme, the Bloomberg Foundation, The USA CDC, the Health Development Agency of England (now NICE), and the IUHPE-EURO.
