| Obligatory Attendance | The ISS takes place during six intensive weeks. Instruction is concentrated, so daily attendance is necessary in all courses. This applies also to auditors in a class who will not take the exam. |
| Attendance Sheets | Attendance is registered on a list that is passed around in class every day.
In week 1 the attendance sheets are returned to the ISS Office after days 2, and 5. In weeks 2-5 the lists are returned at the end of the week. In week 6 the lists are returned after class on the last day the class meets. |
| Planned Absence | The student must inform the teacher about any planned absence in advance. This makes it possible to discuss how the student can independently work through material that is discussed in class in the student’s absence. The teacher should note any arranged absences on the attendance sheet. |
| Unforseen Absence | In case of unforseen absence, e.g. due to illness, the student must inform the ISS Office or the teacher as soon as possible. This type of absence will also be noted on the attendance sheet, either by the teacher or the ISS Office. |
| Follow-up of Absence | Where the attendance sheet shows that a student is unexpectedly absent two days within one week the ISS Office will contact the student to find out the reason for the absence. In this way possible problems can be dealt with at an early stage. |
| Consequences of Absence | Admission to take the final exam in all courses requires a minimum attendance of 75%, i.e. absence may not exceed 25% regardless of its cause.
Scholarship recipients are required to attend class and take exams. Absence without good reason is not acceptable.
Auditors will only receive certificates of attendance if they attend 75% of classes. |
