e philosophy programme at the University of Oslo is a broad programme that covers most of the areas and topics standardly taught in philosophy today. The department has in addition resources in several less common areas that are not usually found in the average philosophy department, e.g. late ancient and patristic philosophy, and environmental philosophy. There are about 145 students in the programme at the BA-level, about 65 at the MA-level, and about 20 working for their doctorates in philosophy (the doctoral studies are not a part of the same programme, however).
Philosophy at the University of Oslo is organised within a unit called Department of Philosophy, Classics, the history of Art and Ideas, also known as IFIKK. IFIKK participates in the Nordplus network in philosophy, which is a cooperation between 17 Nordic universities. We also welcome Erasmus students and bilateral exchange students
There are certain strongholds within the philosophy faculty with two or more members working within the same subfield, in some cases more than one internationally renowned scholars. See in particular the following fields:

Normally, our courses are given in Norwegian. On request from exchange students, however, most advanced courses (BA-courses at 2000-level and any MA-course) can be given in English.
Taking three standard (10 points) courses is considered full-time studies in a semester. Typically, getting credit for a course requires both writing a paper/papers and the passing of a final exam.
The fall semester begins around August 15 and continues till around December 10. The spring semester begins around January 15 with lectures and seminars till about June 10.
