Master programme

The Department of Economics and Resource Management offers four Master's degree programmes. Three of the programmes are tought in Norwegian: Master in Business Administration, Master in Economics and Resource Management and Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The Master in Development and Resource Economics is tought in English.

Master - 2 years

Master in Development and Resource Economics
This masters programme is taught in English. It focuses on economic development, poverty and natural resource management in developing countries. Most students (also Norwegians) do field work in a developing country to collect data for their Master thesis. The annual anrolment is 20-25 students, the majority coming from developing countries.

Admission requirements
Bachelor with minimum one year of economics. There are a few scholarships linked to this programme with more specific requirements

Master - 2 years

Master in Business Administration
Establishing one's own business or working with economic management requires good knowledge of economics and administration. Knowledge of economics and of organisations, and leadership of production processes is demanded by employers. This gives graduates from the Master's programme in Business Administration an edge in decision making processes in organisations, businesses and in public management. This programme is tought in Norwegian.

Admission requirements
Admission to the programme requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent education with at least 80-90 credits in business economics, macroeconomics, administration and methods, plus 30 credits specialisation within one or more of these areas.

Master - 2 years

Master in Economics and Resource Management
The programme covers current societal questions about the environment and resource management, energy, industry development, poverty and development. It is a broad study focused on advanced economic analysis, but interdisciplinarity is also prioritised. The combination of economic analysis, insight into business, and natural science and technology is demanded in both private and public sectors. This programme is tought in Norwegian.

Admission requirements
Bachelor's degree in Economics or equivalent 3-year education.

Master - 2 years

Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation
This is a new Master programme at IØR. The idea behind this programme is to help students with experience from engineering and scientific subjects acquire competence in entrepreneurship and innovation. Students with a background in economics may also apply and will learn allot from the interdiciplinary co-operation this programme will provide. This programme is tought in Norwegian.

Admission requirements
Minimum 3 year education in engieneering or scientific subjects. A few students with a 3 year educatin in economics will be admitted.
