Practical information
for library users
The Noragric
Library is the primary library of Noragric staff and students. It
is an integrated part of the UMB library system, and UMB students
and staff are encouraged to use its collections and competence in
development oriented documentation.
The library is also
open to external users through their local libraries or personal contact
with the Noragric library. Visitors to the library are advised to make
an advance appointment, tel: +47-64 94 97 96, e-mail:

a computerized catalogue common for all Norwegian university libraries,
most college libraries, and many other research libraries.

Inter-library loans
Documents not held within the UMB library system may be acquired as loans
or photocopies from Norway or internationally. Write your name and user
number beside each individual reference and give them to the library staff.
Please keep copies
of your references, since the variety of systems used for this purpose
does not allow the library staff to make automatic follow up of inter-library
loan requests.
Only Noragric staff
and students will be assisted with inter-library loans. Other UMB staff
and students are referred to the main library - but please feel free to
use our collections and competence.
Introduction to library use
MNRSA students will be given a brief introduction to use of the library
services soon after the course opening. Further introduction to information
retrieval and database searching is normally given as part of the course
in research methods - but individual assistance as need arises may be seen
as the most important way of teaching and preaching library use.
New staff will be
offered a library introduction and co-responsibility in developing the
library services and collections is strongly stressed.
Staff and students
are encouraged to follow the courses in database searching given by the
UMB main library, announced on the library's news
page.
Services to Noragric staff
ProCite,
a bibliographical database software package is available to Noragric staff.
