The Vortex system needs an efficient way to dynamically search/query and list resources based on content, document type and properties. The system should automatically keep the indexed data synchronized with Vortex resources, with only a minimal delay. Querying must be efficient enough to replace batch generated XML mapping files to Vortex resources. The system should support multiple indexes and application specific indexes, with a simple-to-use Java API. Query results should also be obtainable from within XSLT transformations (as XML).
DMS will be designed and implemented to replace the current mapping files, and to support the initial needs of the UiO Tavle (bulletin board Vortex extension) project and the UiO Medical LCMS project (focus on searching).
We also plan to use the same basic technology to support the WebDAV DASL extension in the future, and to support full text searching of Vortex document content (based on the current user and ACL).
