Preventive measures to avoid compromise of the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information and ICT systems is considered, as well as reactive security measures, such as Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). Specifically, for any given application one will strive to find the optimum balance between preventative and reactive measures, based on appropriate threat and risk analyses.
