Interoceanic sex: the evolution of reproductive barriers in sea urchins

Due to their external fertilisation and high fecundity, sea urchins
provide a model system for the study of speciation.  We will discuss the
geographic variation in sperm-egg recognition molecules both on a genetic
and functional level, in two circumpolar species of sea urchin.
