SOCIAL GATHERING FOR FOREIGN STUDENTSThursday October 17th AUC, Aalesund Rotary Club and the Student Welfare Organisation had invited foreign students at AUC to a social gathering in the cafeteria.
”We have organised such annual gatherings for foreign students for several years now”, says International Coordinator Åse Mørkeset. “An event like this gives the foreign students possibility to meet less formally both with each other and with staff and students from AUC. Members of Aalesund Rotary Club contribute with local and professional knowledge”. The students were served the local speciality “bacalao” which is heavily influenced from Spain and Portugal.
Marianne Roald Ytterdal, assistant professor at AUC and chairman of The Society for the Preservation of Norwegian Ancient Monuments presented anecdotes from the region as well as a humoristic view on the Norwegian character. This year’s gathering was organised for Erasmus exchange students and students attending the Quota programme. “Next year we hope to invite all foreign students to a similar gathering”, says Åse Mørkeset. This will probably take place in the Fall semester next year in connection with the “International Day” event.
