What is IELTS?
It is a test designed to assess candidates' ability to use English effectively in the 4 key language skill areas listening, reading, writing and speaking as well as their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary in the context of language use. The skills tested are appropriate to a level necessary to follow a course of study and assess candidates´ ability to follow complex arguments, discuss abstract ideas and concepts and deal with information effectively. The materials used in the test are of general interest and do not pre-suppose specialist knowledge of any particular area.
