No pipeline has ever been installed in greater water depths
Blue Stream, the world’s deepest natural- gas pipeline, has been designed and built according to DNV’s pipeline rules. Costing almost NOK 20 billion to construct, it will carry gas at an annual value of approx. NOK 15 billion from Russian gas fields to Turkish consumers.
DNV’s role is central from the time of the first evaluations in 1997 and until the two parallel gas lines, each of almost 400 kilometres in length, will be completed at the beginning of 2003.
