Students at Finnmark University College have a reputation for living their student days to the full. The student body in Alta is one of the most active in the country. Many students have also experienced that it is their testimonials for political and cultural involvement at college which have tipped the scales in their favour when applying for a job.

The Students' Association and the Student Parliament are the driving forces behind the student activities in Finnmark, and there are also a number of student associations and clubs.
