Student activities
Students' Association
The association gives financial support to social and cultural arrangements each year. In principle three activities receive financial support from the association: The Student Week, Kroa (the student pub) and concerts held at the University College. The Student's Association has an annual turnover of NOK 3 million. Students working for the association choose areas of activity that they find interesting, and the work is mainly voluntary and unpaid. But in order to ensure that the association's arrangements and activities maintain a high standard, some of the students are employed in paid positions. The Students' Association employs a general manager and there is also a manager for the studentpub.
The Student Parliament
The Student Parliament works for the interests of the students whether they are academic, social or financial, and also for the students' legal rights. The Student Parliament meets four times a year and is made up of representatives from each of the faculties.
The Student Week
One week in March, each year, the students arrange a week filled with activities. This is an intensive week with concerts, seminars, differnt kinds of happenings and lots of fun together with the other students.
Kroa - The Student Pub
This pub is situated in the city centre of Alta, only 10 minutes' walk from campus. You can work here as a student, then you volunteer, and you meet many other engaged students. Kroa is open on Wedenesdays to Saturdays, and different activities are arranged on specific days. For example, on Thursdays, you can usually sing karaoke!
ESN - The International Student Group in Alta
This is a group of students who arrange activities for the international students. These activities can be international evenings with different kind of food, guided tours around the area, visit to the ice hotel, international day aso.
Camera Obscura - The Photo Club
The photo club arranges courses both for members and non-members. You can learn how to take nature pictures aso.
ASI - Altastudentenes Idrettslag
This is the association of sport activities. At campus you can play football, volleyball, bandy, climb and work out in a gym.
Halddetoppens Telemarkslaug
This is the club if you are interested in telemark or backcountry skiing, or if you enjoy freeheel skiing. You can find more information and pictures if you follow the link in the headline.
