Educating Health Workers for Peace 13-15 June 2007

An international symposium enhancing training and research
on peace and conflict issues in the health sector.

On June 13-15th, 2007, an international symposium will focus on the peace potential of medical and health science institutions. The
conference will take place at the northernmost university of the world, the University of Tromsø, Norway.

Despite  a growing number of pilot courses in Peace-through-Health,
Violence Prevention, Global Health, or Health and Human Rights, still
many challenges remain in the effort to create awareness of and
strengthen the peace capacities of health professionals.

The symposium will therefore be another step towards peace mainstreaming
in medical training and research.

For more information and a call for papers please check the conference website   or the attached conference announcement .

Prior to the symposium the Center for International Health hosts a
partner workshop of the European Medical Peace Work Project (June
11-13). This project is developing an online course, textbook and
resource website for improving the training possibilities for health
professionals in peace issues.
Please help us with the collection of existing courses and teaching
material for health workers, related to issues of peace, violence,
conflict, human rights, human security, or sustainable development. Your
courses can be registered at www.medicalpeacework.org

Welcome to Tromsø!
