IT regulations

HSF computer hardware, data network and computer services are only for the use of registered HSF students and employees.

Please observe that these regulations apply to all of use of resources on HSF's computer clusters, all traffic on the HSF data network and any exchanges to and from the Internet.

It is forbidden to:

• place unauthorised Web-, Ftp-, or other server or server software on the HSF network, including file sharing systems for exchanging MP3 files, film and so on.
• utilize the HSF network any kind of activity linked to offensive material or activities that are likely to offend or inconvenience other users
• violate other users' right to privacy
• use the HSF network for any activities that are in breach of Norwegian law, including the downloading and saving of illegal material (also software piracy of any kind)
• knowingly introduce and spread a virus or other harmful software which causes damage or inconveniences other users
• abuse another person's e-mail address or password or access to the Internet or servers, or to gain illegal access to other resources on the net
• hide your own identity, unless such secrecy is explicitly permitted
• violate Internet rules for acceptable use
• intentionally waste resources (whether human, communication capacity or hardware)
• destroy the content or structure of stored data

Rules for good "netiquette" and general rules for Internet use also apply, in addition to Uninett rules. HSF may, without any further notice, carry out necessary logging of activities and traffic to ensure acceptable and secure use of its network and computer services.

Any breach of these rules may lead to denial of access, and in some serious instances to criminal prosecution.
