This 30 ECTS programme combines history, geography and civics, with principal emphasis on the relationship between Norway (during the Viking Age and the 19th century) and the Middle East. Aspects of Norway and the Middle East such as landscape, historical development, minorities and social and political processes will be illustrated. There will be an excursion to Egypt. It is intended to provide background material for teaching in lower secondary schools. The programme may be taken in combination with Society and Culture: Norway and Europe with a total workload of 60 ECTS.
