Lecture Series: Process Tomography

Prof. Tom Dyakowski, University of Manchester
Prof. Tom Dyakowski, University of Manchester

Telemark University College is hosting a lecture series about process tomography. The lectures are arranged in cooperation with University of Manchester, TEL-TEK and IEE Norway Centre.

Tomography offers a unique opportunity to unravel the complexities of the internal structure of an object without the need to invade it. A Norwegian physicist Abel (1826) first published a concept of tomography for an object with axi-symmetrical geometry. Nearly one hundred years later, an Austrian mathematician Radon (1917) extended Abel’s idea for objects with arbitrary shapes.

The lecture will present the physical laws and reconstruction algorithms for electrical tomography. The latest progress made in solving an inverse problem for electrical tomography will be discussed. The lecture will be illustrated by case studies showing applications electrical tomography for imaging chemical processes.
