Prerequisites

International students must have good oral and written skills in Norwegian language.

Course Objectives

Students will gain insight into principal aspects of Norwegian literature and history from the Middle Ages up until about 1900. The syllabus consists of works and shorter texts from the period, as well as literature history, literature theory and methodology.

Course Description

Norwegian literature and history from the Middle Ages up until about 1900.

Learning Methods

Autumn semester, 6 hours per week for a period of 15 weeks. Lectures and seminars and group work.

Assessment Methods

Individual home assignment which counts for 25% of the final mark, and a 5-hour final examination which counts for 75%. Optional language variant. Examination aids are permitted in the 8-hour take home assignment.
