Level:
Bachelor
Duration of this Course:
1 semester

Prerequisites

Applied Mathematics with Electrotechnology and Mathematics I

Course Objectives

Students will:

  • Gain knowledge of: Fourier series - definitions and concepts.
  • Be able to develop functions in Fourier series.
  • Gain knowledge of definitions and concepts relating to functions of several variables.
  • Be able to use the theory concerning functions of several variables as a basis for amongst other things miscalculations.
  • Be able to calculate alternating current with passive linear components.
  • Develop skills in using simulation tools.

Learning Methods

Lectures, laboratory group work, simulation of circuitry, written exercises. The software programme Maple is used in mathematics.

Course Description

  • Fourier series: Periodic functions; Fourier sinus series and Fourier cosine series; half-periodic lengths.
  • Functions of several variables: Functions with two or more variables; partial derivative functions; differentials and final differences; and miscalculations.
  • Serial and parallel connected alternating current circuits.
  • Network analyses.
  • Resonance circuits.
  • Passive filters.
  • Three-phase systems.

Assessment Methods

40% continuous assessment, 60% written final examination.
