2 years study of information technology or equivalent

Course Objectives

The students will receive a basic introduction to information security. The course will provide insight into the technical and non-technical aspects of this topic. Students will gain both theoretical and practical experience with respect to security questions and information protection.

Learning Methods

6-8 hours of lectures, exercises and guidance per week during the spring semester.

Course Description

A general introduction to basic technical and non-technical components in information security. Computer security, information security, network security, system security and user security. Security strategies, security levels, reliability and system monitoring. Design and implementation of security mechanisms. Authentification, identification and access control. Political and legal framework.

Assessment Methods

Mid-term assessment in the form of obligatory assignments which must be approved before students will be permitted to sit the individual, written 5-hour final examination.
