One semester
Prerequisites
According to admission requirements
Course Objectives
The aim for the course is to establish a fundamental understanding of industrial separation processes and thus prepare for the modelling of these processes. The student shall be able to establish and interpret a process flow sheet and solve problems both by theoretical calculations and by simulations.
Learning Methods
Lectures and exercises (calculations as well as laboratory exercises).
Course Description
Flow sheeting. Unit operations with special emphasis on separation processes (distillation, absorption, evaporation, dryers, filters and membranes). Design and operation of relevant units. Process simulation.
Assessment Methods
The final mark is based on a written exam (60%) and compulsory exercises (40%).
