Travel documents
If you are a foreign national coming to Norway, you shall have a passport or other approved identification. Within the Schengen Area (the European passport-free zone) a passport is no longer necessary to cross the frontiers.
Norwegian citizens apply for passports to the police in the district where the applicant has his fixed place of residence.
The application for asylum also includes an application for travel documents for a foreign national or a Nansen passport. Application for travel documents and Nansen passports should otherwise be made through the police in the district where the applicant has his fixed place of residence. The applications must be on a regular form.
