Citizenship
Norwegian citizenship can be acquired in three ways.
- Automatic
- By application
- By notification
Automatic citizenship is acquired under the rules of the Nationality Act. An application for citizenship is submitted to the police; it is processed by UDI with the Ministry of Local Government as appeal body. Notification, which is a simplified procedure, is submitted to the County Governor, Norwegian diplomatic station or UDI.
