In the spring session of 2006 The University Board decided to implement
electronic voting as an availible service at The University of Oslo
(UiO). This is done through an electronic election application
developed by The Center for Information Technology (USIT).
A prerequisite for being able to vote in an electronic election at UiO
is that one has a valid user ID for the UiO IT-services. This
user ID is a unique identifier that in addition to authentication will
be used to populate the correct list of eligible voters. For

By clicking the link above you will be transported to the FEIDE login
portal. FEIDE is a framework for authentication in higher
education institutions in Norway. For FEIDE authentication you
must use your UiO user ID. For more information about FEIDE, see

After you have logged in, you will be redirected to a page that
contains a list of so called "New elections". These are elections
where you are eligible to vote and where you haven't already
voted. After selecting an election you can either press the
button marked "Show info" or the button marked "Vote". In the
latter case you will begin the process of submitting av vote. You
can interrupt this process at any time until you actually submit the
vote. After submitting your vote you may alter your vote by voting
again, this time by selecting the election where you wish to change
your vote in the menu "Open elections" and submitting another
vote. The previously submitted vote will then be discarded.
When an election closes the possibility of changing your vote is no
longer present. When this happens the election disappears from
the "Open elections" menu.
The two other menus; "Open elections" and "Other elections" on the
starting page contain elections where (for "Open elections") you have
submitted a vote already (and the election is still open) or (for
"Other elections") elections where you are not registered eligible to
vote. If you feel that this ineligibility is incorrect, you may use the
"Other elections" menu to submit a vote. Voting (again) in an
election listed in the "Open elections" menu will function similarly as
voting in an election in the "New elections" menu. Submitting a
vote in an election listed in the "Other elections" will send your vote
(though not it's contents) to the Election Board who will decide if it
is to be counted.
Help-dialogs are present on the left-hand side of each individual page
that you will use for voting. Be aware that use of some common
functionality with regard to design and ease of use have been omitted
to assure thet the application functions on all platformas and browsers
who conform to applicable standards. After authentication your
session will last for twenty minutes. After this you will be
unable to submit a vote without logging in again, and any changes you
have made will be lost.
Additional documentation about the application and its technical
