Envision
The Envision software package is an offspring of the University of Tromso's investigation into cold adapted proteins.
The software is designed to compare protein sequences.
The software in only at a beta testing stage, so we need testers.
Unlike other software packages Envision attempts to integtate data from several sources: sequence alignments, protein structures, and phylogenies,
and others, into to a central registry.
Parsed data is mapped to bond, atom, residue, protein, alignment, node, and tree object properties.
Relationships exist between all objects, permitting queries that cross-traditional data format and application barriers.
Query result sets can be visualized by colouring alignment, structure, phylogeny, and other viewer applications.
An internal window manager allows for event synchronization such as scrolling, selection, and three-dimensional movement between viewers.
Hopefully the Envision software will give a better overview, both integrated and synchronized, from which to analyse biological data.
Envision is programmed in Jython for Python readability and Java platform independency.
