Printer-friendly pages
Short explanation
When you find a site you'd like to print out, you may be used to look for printer-friendly pages. In Infoweb that's not necessary. By using css we've made sure that your browser only prints out what's important.
Conclusion: print out an Infoweb article, just make use of your standard print commands, and the browser will take care of the rest.
Technical explanation
Using CSS
[1]
it's possible to state which medium you want to define the appearance of.
This way, you can have different styles for different medias, e.g. you're viewing your web page from a
browser and a tv-set:
<link href="stilsett_vanlig.css" media="screen"> <link href="stilsett_tv.css" media="tv">
By creating a specific style sheet with media="print", we are thus able to instruct the browser which elements we want it to print, and how we want them to look. This is a technique that works on the following browsers:
- Internet Explorer higher than 5
- Mozilla higher than 1
- Opera higher than 4
- Konqueror higher than 3
