ADSL at NTNU

For the time being, there are no broadband connections offered by NTNU to students or employees, except for connections offered to the residents of SiT's student apartments. As an alternative to dialup connections, NTNU have negotiated an agreement with both NextGenTel and BlueCom

The agreements vary in price and connection speed. When considering the various deals offered, you should look at the price of the deals and what connection speed you need. General information about connections to NTNU via internet

You can connect to NTNUs network via internet, regardless of which internet service provider you use. In order to use services offered to users on NTNUs internal network, such as windows file services and services subscripted to by UBiT, you'll have to use a VPN client.

Note that most of the services offered through the NTNU network are also available without the use of VPN. SFTP and SSH/scp can be used to transfer files, and Webmail or POP/IMAP can be used to read your NTNU e-mail.
