########## Restoring INBOX ########## After your files have been restored, you will have a directory below your home directory called "*restored_files*". You can check this by logging on to *login.stud.ntnu.no* and typing "ls -ld restored_files". You will get some information about the directory if it exists. Enter the restored_files directory by typing "cd restored_files". There should be a directory named after the date of restoration, on the form YYYY-MM-DD. Type "ls" to see it, and "cd YYYY-MM-DD" to enter it. In this directory, there should be a directory called *mail*; enter it. In the "mail" directory are the different files containing e-mails. The interesting one is usually named *INBOX*. When you are certain it exists, you can type "cd" to get to the top level of your home directory. To move the e-mail you must type the following command: "cat ./restored_files/YYYY-MM-DD/mail/INBOX >> ./mail/INBOX" This appends a copy of the contents of the restored INBOX file to the INBOX file which e-mail programs check for mail. You may find duplicate messages the next time you open the inbox, in addition to the deleted mail. After moving other files you need, that have been restored, you should go to the top level again and remove the restored_files directory and contents by typing "rm -Rf restored_files". Warning: You should be very careful using this command, as it is easy to remove too much.
