########## Guidelines to ircII ########## ircII is a program that gives the user a lot of control, if he wants it. You can set up a lot of details, define how the screen will look, program some simple functions, and so on. -=To start ircII=- When you have started the ircII by writing "irc" in the prompt from the UNIX-machine (solarislogin.stud.ntnu.no), the screen will look a lot like this: *** - 30/1/1997 12:44 *** - $Id: irciie.body,v 1.2 1998/02/04 15:24:36 ingviljo Exp $ *** - Velkommen til IRCNO IRC-server #1, Trondheim - Norge *** - *** - Som bruker av denne tjenesten forplikter du deg a folge reglementet *** - til IRCNO samt de regler som gjelder spesielt for denne serveren. *** - Se http://irc.pvv.unit.no/ircno/. Alle som forsoker a *** - kjore slikt her, vil bli kastet av uten forvarsel. [1] ingviljo > The two lines at the botton is very special. The line at the bottom is where you give the commands to irc while the line above is a statusline where channel modus, your irc-nick is listed. -=IRC commands=- Everything that you write in the kommandoline must have a '/' first to be accepted as a command to IRC. Text without '/' first will be sent to your query-channel. -=Channels=- There's a lot of channels on IRC, and they have different subjects, everything from politics, philosophy and religion, and national channels like #norge and #trondheim. To see a list of channels, write "/list" You enter a channel by writing "/join kanalnavn" To enter the channel #ntnu like this: "/join #ntnu" If there arent any on that channel before you write "/join kanalnavn" then the channel will be created, and you will be the only user on that channel. Other users can enter your channel, unless you put a stopper for it.
