Windows Vista and Windows Update

When you install Windows Vista you were asked whether or not you wanted Windows Update to check for updates automatically or manually. After this you might have changed your mind and want to configure it again.

To do this, you need to enter Start->Control Panel ->System and Mainetenance->Windows Update. On the left-hand side you will see the option "Change settings"; click that and you will get a windows like this:

Change settings

You can now choose if you want Windows to check and install for updates automatically at a set interval; to download updates automatically but manually install; to check for updates but manually choose for downloading and installing. Or, you can choose to never check for updates. In addition to this, you can check for "Recommended updates", which means you will get recommend updates (to make applications and hardware work better) in addition to critical updates (security patches and such).

When you are done, press 'OK'.
