Prosjektet tar for seg Den afrikanske Unions (AU) rolle i fredsoperasjoner i Afrika i dag, og analyserer videre utviklingene i afrikanske sikkerhetsarkitektur.
The overall aim of the project is to monitor the role of the African Union (AU) in peace operations in Africa, and to analyse the development of the African security architecture with a focus AU policies, institutional structures and operational guidelines. The project has a two-folded aim: First, it seeks to analyse the evolving role and future potential of the African Union (AU) as an important actor in peace operations. The investigation of relationships with and tracing of influence from cooperation with major partners (i.e. the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), NATO (US, UK) will be an important part of the project.
