Presentation
Semester
Autumn and spring.
Objectives and content
The programme is aimed at students with an interest in mathematics who intend to qualify for research, development or teaching and seek employment where education in mathematics is required or considered an advantage. Within the Master´s Programme in Mathematics, you can choose among the following specialisations:
- Algebra/algebraic geometry
- Mathematical analysis
- Topology
Admission
Semester
Autumn and spring.
Admission Requirements
A first degree (bachelor´s degree) of three or four years´ duration from an approved institution of higher education, as well as proficiency in the English language.
It is important to document the content and learning outcomes of the central mathematics subjects, either with attached course descriptions or with links to web pages where course descriptions can be found.
For more information regarding admission look at the different specializations. In your letter of motivation, please indicate which of the specializations/fields (Algebra/algebraic geometry, Mathematical Analysis, or Topology) you you are mostly interested in.
For international self-financing applicants
The Master's Degree Programme in Mathematics receives more applications from self-financing students each year than there are places available.
The average grade of the Bachelor's degree must be at least 2nd class upper division/B or the equivalent.
Quota Scheme
The Master's Programme in Mathematics is open to applicants for the Quota scheme from certain developing coutries, countries in Central and Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.
Only applicants who are affiliated with institutions with a formal, active collaboration agreement with the University of Bergen will be considered for admission. Currently, the University of Bergen has formal agreements with the following institutions:
