Domains and websites
The UiB name policy regulates the use of the university's official domain name uib.no. The objective of the name policy is to ensure that UiB's domain name and URL addresses are used consistently and unambiguously. Read more about UiB's name policy (in Norwegian only)
The Division of Communication has overall responsibility for issues of allocation. You must apply if you wish to have a new domain or website created. Applications should be submitted in Issue tracker or sent to webred@uib.no.
The University of Bergen's websites are divided into administrative websites/units. A website can typically be a organisational unit (such as a faculty or department), subject area or mini-website (such as an online newspaper or magazine).
Content on uib.no
Content on uib.no is created and updated by specialists and administrative staff from across the entire organisation. These people are responsible for ensuring that the content on uib.no is updated and correct at all times. Every unit in UiB has at least one person who can approve access and editing rights and rights for content on uib.no. You can find a list of local web editors here (in Norwegian only). NB! Arrangements regarding local web editors will be reviewed when the new operations model for UiB is adopted.
All employees will have a chance to see basic information taken from SEBRA (account that provides you access to UiB's electronic systems). All employees also have access to edit and add to the information about themselves on uib.no. Information about study programmes and courses has been taken from the Common Student System (FS).
The front page uib.no and service uib.no/aktuelt are maintained by editing staff in the central Division of Communication.
System responsibility
The Division of Communication has system responsibility for uib.no and the Director of Communications has editorial responsibility for the website. The IT department is responsible for the operating environment.
During the project period, system responsibility will be allocated by the steering group for the web project, subject to guidelines.
The web project
During 2013/2014, UiB's websites will be moved over to a new technical platform. The objective is to have a more flexible, stable and user-friendly website with good options for further development.
