Dr Felde
Vivian Astrup Felde successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled 'Quantifying modern pollen-vegetation-diversity relationships: an assessment of mehtods to reconstruct past terrestrial biodiversity' on 26 March 2015
Triin, Vivian, Willy_260315.jpg

Vivian's evaluation committee was Professor Willy Tinner (first opponent, University of Bern), Dr Triin Reitalu (second opponent, Tallinn University of Technology), and Dr Inger Måren (University of Bergen).
The thesis consists of two published papers (10.1016/j.revpalbo.2014.06.003 and 10.1177/0959683614534745), two manuscripts soon to be submitted, an appendix presenting a pollen-plant translation table, and a thesis introduction and synthesis. Her supervisors were John Birks, Anne Bjune, and John-Arvid Grytnes.
Willy Tinner and Triin Reitalu discussed many aspects of Vivian's work and Vivian defended her work excellently. All agreed that she has made a major contribution to using pollen-stratigraphical data to reconstruct long-term trends in biodiversity.
Congratulations to Dr Vivian Felde.
