Accommodation

We have reserved rooms in one hotel for the duration of the week. If you are accepted for participation in UiB Staff Mobility Week you will receive information on how to reserve one of these rooms for yourself.
Participants may of course book other accommodation if they please!

More information about accommodation in Bergen you will find under the link About Bergen.

Arriving

Arriving by plane: The Bergen airport is at Flesland, 20 km outside the city of Bergen. If you travel by bus, you can take the Airport Express Coach, leaving every 15 minutes for the city. To the city it costs 100 NOK one way, or if you buy return-ticket at the same time, it will cost 160 NOK

For those staying at hotel Augustin – the most conveniant  stop for the airport bus is the Fish marked  (some 2-300 meters to walk).

For those staying at Citybox or Steens Hotel - the nearest stop for the airport bus is the stop at the bus station/train station.

Arriving by train: The train station is situated in the middle of the city. A 15 minute walk to the hotel.

Climate

One of the interesting things about living in Bergen is that you never know what weather the next day will bring. In early May we usually have nice weather and temperature up to 20 degrees, but you could also have rain and 5 degrees. So, if you want to get an idea of what type of clothes to bring – you could check out the long term weather forecast for Bergen shortly before you leave at www.yr.no

Cost & Funding

There is no fee for participating in the Staff Mobility Week. But please note that all participants are responsible for covering their own accommodation, travel and most meals during the week. Some meals are free for the participants and included in the program. Every day you get complementary lunch, and Thursday night dinner is also paid by the university (but drinks are not).

Please note: Erasmus funding for participating in this programme might be available through your home institution. Please contact your own Institutional Erasmus Coordinator.

Language

In order to participate in our Staff Mobility Week, you need to be able to communicate well in English.

We expect that the participants are willing and able to participate in debates and in some cases also hold a presentation about their work and experience.

Organisers

HR Department coordinates planning and has the primary responsibility for the joint program through the week.
