Master thesis

The Master´s thesis is intended to qualify the student for research on philosophical topics. The student chooses a topic to be investigated, and the result is presented in the form of a thesis. The thesis need not present new material or reach new and original conclusions and insights in order to be accepted, but it should treat its material in accordance with the academic and methodological standards of the field. The size of theses will vary, but a thesis will normally be between 50 and 120 pages long.

The topic of the thesis must be approved by the department and fall within a sub-field in which the department has or can provide the required competence for supervision. The student has the right to be assigned a supervisor for the thesis, chosen by the department. The student and the supervisor will sign a supervision contract.
